The Rules, Rituals, and Routines of Highly Successful Entrepreneurs
The Habits of the Elite: Learn the Secrets of Successful Entrepreneurs
"The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine." - Mike Murdock
Successful entrepreneurs are not born with extraordinary abilities.
Instead, they develop specific habits and routines that have helped them succeed in their missions.
These habits have become an integral part of their lives and have helped them stay focused, disciplined, and productive.
In this newsletter, we’ll explore the common Rules, Routines and Rituals of the most successful entrepreneurs, which have helped them achieve their goals and build successful businesses.
But first, before diving into the tactical stuff, let’s rewind to a word from a few sentences back - MISSION.
None of this shit you’re about to read matters if you do not have clarity on your purpose and mission.
So, how do you find your purpose?
Well, I’ve written a short newsletter on EXACTLY how to find your purpose.
If you haven’t already got your mission clear - go figure that out, then come back to this!
The Three R’s
Rules
The first aspect of success in entrepreneurship is setting rules.
Rules help entrepreneurs stay focused on their goals and align their actions with their objectives.
I’ve read tonnes of books on personal development and entrepreneurship. Here are some of the most common Rules I’ve encountered that the best in the world live by to achieve insane levels of success:
Time Management: Successful entrepreneurs manage their time effectively. They prioritize their tasks, allocate time for important activities and DO NOT let other people dictate their calendars. They avoid procrastination, turn off notifications, and use their time efficiently to achieve their goals - the best way to do this? Read Deep Work by Cal Newport.
Decision-Making Values: Successful entrepreneurs make decisions quickly and confidently. They are not afraid of making mistakes and learn from their failures. The faster you make a decision, the faster you learn what does or doesn’t work. This is what counts in the long run. Speed of decision making is key, and having a set of “Decision Values” can help your team also make decisions faster.
Continuous Learning: Successful entrepreneurs believe in continuous learning. They read books, attend seminars, and seek advice from experts in their field. They keep themselves updated with the latest industry trends and technologies. But most importantly, they build “learning time” into their calendars - and they defend that time because that is the only way you maintain an advantage.
"The key is not to prioritize what's on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities." - Stephen Covey
Rituals
Rituals are routines that entrepreneurs follow every day to stay productive and focused.
Just like athletes who have “superstitions”, rituals help entrepreneurs create a sense of stability and consistency in their lives.
Rituals allow YOU to control the day, and not let the day control you.
Here are some common rituals followed by successful entrepreneurs:
Morning Rituals: Successful entrepreneurs WIN their mornings. They wake up early, meditate, exercise, read, and plan their day. This helps them start their day with a positive mindset, energy and most importantly, focus.
Goal Setting: Successful entrepreneurs set specific goals and track their progress regularly. They break down their goals into smaller achievable tasks and work towards them consistently. Once again, this is only possible if you have clarity of your purpose and mission - you must know your IKAGAI.
Networking: Successful entrepreneurs prioritize networking and building relationships. They attend industry events, meet new people, and collaborate with like-minded individuals. Look at the most notable entrepreneurs on social media - they are always doing stuff with others.
"If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed." - Admiral William H. McRaven
Routines
Routines are habits that entrepreneurs follow regularly to stay focused and productive.
Here are some common routines followed by successful entrepreneurs:
Focus on High-Value Tasks: Successful entrepreneurs only focus on high-value tasks that are critical to their business success. They delegate low-value tasks to their team members or outsource them.
Continuous Improvement: Successful entrepreneurs constantly improve their skills and knowledge. They invest in their personal and professional development and are constantly seeking feedback from their peers and mentors.
Time-Blocking: Successful entrepreneurs use time-blocking techniques to stay productive. They allocate specific time slots for each task and avoid distractions during that time.
"I have a morning routine where I don't get on my phone the first hour I wake up. I use that time to read and write and meditate." - Arianna Huffington
The most important thing you can do today, is writing this shit out for you and your personal circumstances.
